Blue Devon Tartan

As a companion to the first Devon Tartan featuring green as the predominate colour, another cloth has been produced for those with a preference for an alternative colour still representing Devon County.

Two shades of blue are the main colours, the lighter for the sea of both north and south Devon coasts and the darker blue introducing the naval connection of Plymouth and Devonport.

The sands of Saunton and Woolacombe are noted by yellow / gold crosses, the cliffs of Sidmouth by red / brown.  These cliffs rise to 500ft in places and the small fishing fleet has to operate from the beach as, since Elizabethan times, a ridge of shingle has blocked the Sid Estuary.

A white cross has been introduced for the chalk cliffs of Beer Head.
